Task 6: Retro Design Styles Commentary

I’m reviewing wooden toy quarterly collectors edition. For the packaging and layout. It is very retro in its style, it reminds me of being a kid in the 50's and wanting to be an astronaut not that I was a kid in the 5o's or anything, its just that if I were this is how I’d imagine books and magazines being. The colours are very well chosen, blue and dirty rusted orange will always be a good combination if your wanting to get across that old vintage feel and effect. I think it was used because mainly out of Timba's personal taste and what he likes, and also to get across that collectors quality and bring some historical merit for the design.

I've got some photo's of the mag so you can see what all the fuss is about, i hope you get inspired and gather some ideas from it all.

Task 5: Graphic Designer Review

Established in 2005 by Paul Mosig and Rachel Peachey, Racket is an independent award winning design studio based in Melbourne Australia. Racket specialists in unique high quality solutions for web, print and identity. Their approach towards design is informed by their background in visual arts, graphic design and human ecology. Paul and Rachel are accomplished multimedia artists, with interests in sustainable practice, community engagement and cultural development.

I like there philosophies towards their design practices and their style is defiantly their own. Very aesthetically pleasing, it makes you feel like you want to reach out and touch it. They recently featured their design in the this is not art festival postcards, and merch. So check out some of these images and get inspired yo!
